Overview

One of the world's most enchanting and captivating peaks is the staggering mountain of Ama Dablam, which stands tall amongst several other mountains in the Everest region, reaching a height of 6812m. The Amadablam Expedition is considered one of the most technical and challenging climbing adventures in the Himalayas.

Ama Dablam has a lasting impact on many trekkers in Nepal, as it is perhaps the most stunning mountain on the trek to Everest Base Camp. It offers a magnificent view south of Mt. Everest and Mt. Lhotse in the Khumbu region of the Himalayas, and it is a majestic pyramid of ice with vertical walls and sharp, exposed ridges.

The climb follows the Southwest ridge of the mountain, which is the usual route for climbing. This route has three camps above the base camp, and previous climbing experience is necessary as it demands high technical skills. Additionally, it is a highly challenging mountaineering adventure. Despite being a six-thousand-meter mountain, it is an expedition mountain, unlike the other climbing peaks.

Ama Dablam is the most prominent mountain in the region, but climbing it is a daring task that requires several days, of training, skills, and experience. The Amadablam Expedition provides a thrilling climbing experience for mountaineers.

Itinerary

The journey to summit Ama Dablam peak starts from Kathmandu after arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport. A Nepal Visa can be obtained on arrival by filling out an online form beforehand or at the airport. Necessary documents include a valid passport, passport photos, and cash. The visa fee depends on the duration of stay, which for the expedition is a month. Private vehicle pick-up service is provided to transfer to the hotel for rest and preparation, and breakfast is provided the following morning.

On the second day, after a warm breakfast at the hotel, we will embark on a sightseeing tour of Kathmandu. The city is a beautiful blend of traditional houses and culture, with plenty of historical and religious sites to explore. To keep things simple, we will provide a tour of the UNESCO world heritage sites with a professional guide and private vehicle. This will give you the opportunity to experience and explore the culture, tradition, and lifestyle of the people in the city while enjoying yourself.

Today marks the start of our official trek for the Ama Dablam Expedition itinerary as we depart from Kathmandu to Lukla via a mesmerizingly beautiful 40-minute flight. As you approach Lukla, you will be awestruck by the breathtaking view of the valley and the majestic snow-capped mountains in the north. Once you arrive in Lukla, we will ensure that you have obtained your Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Entry Permit for the Khumbu Region.

As we make our way to Phakding, the trekking trail will lead you through a stunning natural landscape of waterfalls, suspension bridges, rivers, and lush forests. After trekking for around 4-5 hours, we will reach Phakding where we will spend the night. The settlement has a friendly atmosphere with various accommodations and food facilities available.

Today, the Ama Dablam expedition heads to Namche Bazaar, a popular destination for trekkers in the Everest region. The trek takes around 6-7 hours through various terrains and requires a Sagarmatha National Park entry permit. The journey is filled with exotic flora and fauna and offers great views of the mountains. The trek includes crossing the Hillary Suspension bridge and leads to the unique marketplace of Namche Bazaar.

On the fifth day of the Ama Dablam Expedition, acclimatization is necessary for a smooth and safe journey. This day is free for exploration of the Namche region, where the marketplace and 900-year-old monastery are popular tourist attractions. Tourists can also hike up to the Syangboche viewpoint for a beautiful sight. Proper rest and adjustment to altitude are important to avoid altitude sickness.

After a day of acclimatization and exploration at Namche Bazaar, the Ama Dablam Expedition continues. The trek heads towards the National Park Museum through the ridge, passing through Khyangjuma and Tengboche settlements. Tengboche monastery is a popular attraction for travelers due to its religious aspect and viewpoint of the region. After passing through the monastery, a short descent through a beautiful forest of Rhododendrons, pine, and birch will lead you to the overnight lodging at Deboche.

We'll be heading to Pheriche from Deboche, a small village at an altitude of 4300 meters known for its scenic mountain views, farms, and yaks. The trail takes us through lush Rhododendron and birch forests that gradually give way to stunning views of Everest, Ama Dablam, and Lhotse peaks.

After crossing the Imja River and passing through Dingboche, we'll arrive at the charming village of Pheriche. The village is known for its stone houses, picturesque farms, and of course, the beautiful views of the mountains. We'll spend the night at a lodge in Pheriche, taking in the sights and sounds of this serene mountain village.

The trek from Pheriche to Ama Dablam Base Camp is a gradual uphill through alpine vegetation, offering beautiful views of the mountains. As you leave the picturesque settlement at Pheriche, don't forget to admire the stunning sight of Ama Dablam peak in close proximity.

Arriving at the Ama Dablam Base Camp, located at an altitude of 4600 meters, signifies that we have completed half of our Ama Dablam Expedition without any complications. The following day marks the start of the climbing process.

Tonight, we will stay in tented camps at the base camp of Ama Dablam peak.

Our Ama Dablam expedition enters its most challenging phase today, as we embark on a 12-day summit of the peak. Given the technical nature of the climb, it is crucial that you are fully prepared for the ascent to an altitude of 6812 meters, which will require proper acclimatization at each high camp.

We will be following standard guidelines and well-established trails, and your professional guides will assist you in safely ascending to Camp I, where you will spend a day acclimatizing to the high altitude.

With expert guidance, you will be able to traverse the less technical Camp II and Camp III before reaching the summit of Ama Dablam. After exploring the peak for a few hours, we will descend back to the camp below and gradually make our way back to the base camp over the next 20 days.

Throughout the expedition, we will spend the nights in tented camps, where our company will provide the necessary kitchen tools and staff to prepare nutritious food to keep you fueled for the climb. Remember, this is a challenging climb, so make sure you are well prepared both physically and mentally to take on the summit of Ama Dablam.

After successfully reaching the summit of Ama Dablam, one of the highest peaks in Nepal, it's time to head back. Starting from the base camp, we will trek toward Tengboche. The descent will be a pleasant and fascinating experience, as we retrace our steps through Pheriche. Along the way, you will be treated to the sight of vast fields and yaks grazing.

As we continue our journey downhill from Pheriche, the dense forests of Rhododendron and Birch will start to emerge. We will pass through the beautiful valley of Deboche, where we spent the night during our uphill climb. Finally, we will reach Tengboche, where we will spend the night at a lodge, enjoying the serene beauty of the place.

We will retrace our path and begin our descent toward the renowned market of Namche Bazaar. This bustling marketplace is alive with the chatter and merriment of fellow travelers and local vendors, and we will revisit it to create more unforgettable experiences.

Following a rugged path for about 5-6 hours, we will arrive at Namche Bazaar where we will spend the night at a lodge.

Today will be a long day as we make our way from Namche Bazaar to Lukla. Along the way, we will pass through picturesque settlements and enjoy stunning views of waterfalls, suspension bridges, and the Bhote Koshi River. In order to reach the charming village of Lukla, we will need to cross the Bhote Koshi River three times.

Once we arrive in Lukla, we will spend the night and prepare for our return journey tomorrow.

Today marks our departure from Lukla and the Khumbu Region. We begin our final day with a hearty breakfast to fuel us for the journey ahead. Soon after, we will board a scenic flight back to Kathmandu. As you look out of the window, the breathtaking views will be all the more memorable knowing that you have recently stood atop one of those majestic mountains.

Our Ama Dablam Expedition has come to an end, and today marks our last day in Nepal. To conclude our journey, we have planned a leisure day for you to explore the city at your own pace. Whether you want to go on a culinary adventure or explore the local attractions, you have the freedom to do as you, please.

In the evening, we will have a farewell dinner to celebrate the wonderful memories we have made together throughout our expedition
